If you want to bring a tropical feel to your patio, nothing beats the famous tiki umbrellas. They’re beautiful, inexpensive and instantly deliver a hot summer vibe to wherever they’re placed. While the very best are made of natural thatch, they’re not practical due to their high upkeep and difficult storage but thankfully you can get some pretty great synthetic ones these days.
The choices listed below are in my opinion the very best tiki umbrellas you can get due to their thatch quality, sturdiness and great pricing. You can take a look at the comparison table to get a quick overview of all the units and right below it you’ll find detailed reviews of each one.

Tiki Umbrella Reviews
Get to know each tiki umbrella completely, to ensure you get the right one for you.
This is the cheapest tiki umbrella on the list and while it has a few drawbacks, it’s still a decent product for the price. What you’ll notice first is the size of the umbrella itself, it’s only 6.5′ wide which makes it smaller than the average. Although this means it provides less shade, it might actually come in handy if you want to use it in a small space such as a balcony. The construction quality isn’t bad for the price, featuring a lightweight steel frame that has been covered with a wood print. The main issue is that the fabric used for the canopy itself is flimsy and the thatch covering is sparse (it could use more strands). The umbrella tilts to the left and right side, helping you track the sun, and the metal lock is actually quite sturdy. It also comes with a 6 month warranty. It’s really simple and somewhat lacking but for the ridiculously low price you couldn’t ask for more.
EasyGo – 8′ Thatch Patio Tiki Umbrella – Tropical Palapa Raffia Tiki Hut Hawaiian Hula Beach Umbrella
This EasyGo 8′ wide tiki umbrella delivers solid looks and durability at a budget price. It features the common “wood grain” pole finish, with the pole itself being fairly durable – especially the tilt lock. The canopy is well-made and the thatching is resistant to the weather and looks surprisingly good, featuring a great amount of strands that completely cover the underlying fabric. It really captures the tropical look instead of seeming cheap. It’s around 6’8″ tall, easy to assemble and it comes with a no questions asked 30 day warranty as well. In short, this tiki umbrella positively surprised me, delivering a great experience at a very inexpensive price.
Bayside 21 comes back with a bigger and better tiki umbrella that offers great quality and looks – all at an attractive price. The canopy’s weather resistant – both the fabric cover and the thatch, and the aluminum pole is durable and resistant. It also features a convincing wood print but surprisingly it doesn’t tilt. One thing to note is that the pole is quite tall and since it’s a classic “push-up” umbrella, it can be hard to open for some people. The canopy’s durable and the plastic raffia is full and good-looking, offering a great tropical presence to wherever it’s placed. This is among the best tiki umbrellas you can get for the money.
The last unit from Bayside 21 on the list, this big 9 feet wide tiki umbrella stands out due to the unique canopy design and great crank lifting system. It doesn’t tilt although the large shade area makes up for it. It’s well-built and the wood print looks great, especially on the rectangle ribs. I’ve noticed that the canopy is very resistant to the wind, not only due to being vented but also due to the shape. The thatching is full, good-looking and resistant to the weather. It’s also very inexpensive and comes with 1 year of warranty. Overall it’s a great tiki umbrella that holds up wonderfully against the wind. The crank system is also a fantastic bonus.
Another hexagon shaped option, this CastleCreek tiki umbrella is sturdy, beautiful and features a much appreciated crank opening system. The pole instead of having the common wood print, has a solid paint finish that perfectly matches the canopy’s color. The top is 9 feet wide and very resistant to the wind, much like the previous model. The thatching features 8 layers, making it look more realistic and the lining below is resistant to use and weather. This tiki umbrella gives you a more authentic look than the others while maintaining a very affordable price.
And there you have it, these thatched umbrellas are your ticket to that classic paradise feel that only the tropics can give. As a bonus, I’d personally recommend to couple the umbrella with a tiki bar. It’s one of my favorite looks and you can get really creative with it, making for a fantastic ambiance to throw a party. Also, for those of you that love to relax in the water, tiki units are easily the best pool umbrellas. They match perfectly!
