Cheap Swing Set Reviews
As promised, here you can read in-depth reviews of each of the models that I consider to be the top cheap swing sets as shown in the table above. You’ll get to know their unique qualities and other important details, making it easy for you to choose the perfect one.
It’s simple, fun and affordable. This is, in my view, a cheap swing set by Flexible Flyer that delivers a fun and full experience that goes beyond swings and adds a see-saw, a wave slide, a glider and a trapeze bar at a very inexpensive price. Both the steel frame and plastic components are sturdy plus the whole swing set is well constructed, making for a very safe experience that up to 10 kids at a time can enjoy. It’s pretty big for a swing set due to the activities being offered, but even then its 18′ x 8.5′ (length x width) size can still easily fit in a backyard. The assembly is very straightforward and can be completed quickly (3 hours) with just 2 people. It comes with a 6 month warranty on the overall structure and 2 years on replacement parts. It’s made in America, durable and most of all – fun. At what is in my view such a low price, it’s a very sweet deal.
The Super 8 is, in my opinion, a cheap kids swing set similar to the one shown above although it trades a see-saw for a quirky flying saucer and the trapeze bar for a rocking horse ride. The construction quality is on par with the previous model although due to its larger top beam (more area to support) it has a max resistance of up to 8 kids instead of 10. The size ends up being nearly the same at 18.4′ x 8.5′ (length x width), and the materials used (powder coated steel and high density plastic) are also identical. It meets all safety regulations and its construction and finish both ensure that the swing set is long lasting. The assembly is very fast and easy, taking around 3 hours with 2 people. This swing set offers a 6 month warranty on defects and 3 years on the steel frame. With some unique attractions and solid durability, the Super 8 stands out, in my opinion, as a great affordable swing set.
If what you’ve got in mind is a swing set that will last a lifetime and look good while doing it, look no further – this one stays true to the brand’s name. With 2 belt swings and a trapeze bar it offers the classic swing experience in a simple but incredibly well-crafted way. With rounded edges, rubber-covered swing chains and the sturdiest frame you’ll find, it ensures that safety is the number 1 priority with fun being, of course, a close second. The all-steel construction will endure use with ease and the powder coat makes sure that it resists any type of weather as well. Its size, 10′ x 13.5′ (width x length), is versatile and easy to place even in smaller spaces. It’s a free standing swing set too, meaning that it doesn’t require any cement or anchors. With a 5 year warranty to back it up, this unit is in my honest opinion among the very best cheap metal swing sets you can get.
The Oakmont is, in my view, a cheap wooden swing set that’s coupled with a nice fort, offering the basic playset experience at what I consider a very affordable price. It’s likely the cheapest wooden playset I’ve ever got and while the structure is simple, it still offers a wonderful bit of fun that’ll make kids smile. It’s around 11′ x 14′ (width x length) and 8.7′ tall, making it a fairly compact solution that can fit in most outdoors with ease. It meets all the safety regulations, as expected, offering the kids safe entertainment. When it comes to activities, it has a swing set with a trapeze bar, a wavy slide and best of all – the wooden structure itself that includes a top cabin and a nice little play fort below. It also has doors and windows which brings a much liked level of reality to the playing experience. The whole playset is made of cedar wood, which is naturally resistant against decay and weather, with some components being made of plastic (slide) and others of steel (heavy duty brackets). The canopy is made of synthetic fabric that is colorfast and resilient to the elements. Assembling the Oakmont is fairly easy but it can take some time if you’re inexperienced due to all the parts. It can be done solo over two days or, if you’ve got a helping hand, it can be put up in one day. This playset is also backed by a 1 year general warranty and a 5 year warranty on the wood. The Oakmont positively surprised me, proving – in my opinion – that cheap wooden swing sets can both look good and offer solid, safe entertainment.
This is, in my view, an inexpensive playset by Step2 that is fun, sturdy and super easy to assemble. It trades wood for high density plastic, making it nearly maintenance free and highly resistant to the elements. It’s around 9′ x 9.5′ in size (width x length) and 6.25′ tall, making it very easy to place even in small spaces. The frame, even if all plastic, is pretty solid and can stand up to 5 kids at once (aged 3 to 8). The safety level is fantastic due to the materials – every corner is rounded, the swing uses rope as “chains” and the structure itself is flexible enough not to hurt kids even if they fall onto it. It’s got a nice color palette, easily blending in with its surroundings while looking vibrant and it features a classic set of activities: 2 swings, one slide, a climber and a great little playhouse at the bottom. The assembly is a breeze, taking only a couple of hours to get it up and it comes with a 3 year warranty. In my opinion, this is a great cheap playset that offers a compact and well-made solution with great durability and an attractive price too.
Backyard Discovery strikes a fantastic balance between price and quality, delivering the “Monterey” – which in my view is an inexpensive wooden playset that punches above its weight to provide a full, fun and long lasting source of entertainment. You might notice the similarities to the “Oakmont” model shown previously as it’s essentially a bigger and better version of it with a few extra upgrades as well such as the beautiful wooden roof (instead of fabric) and the rock climbing. The structure’s quality (sturdiness and durability) is on par with the other version, meaning that it’s beautiful, resistant to the weather and hefty, making it able to withstand 8 to 10 kids playing on it at the same time. When it comes to activities, this thing’s fully featured. It has a huge 10′ wavy slide, rock climbing, 2 swings, a glider, a playhouse on the bottom and an awesome fort on top with a balcony. It meets all the safety requirements, featuring rounded corners, safety handles and heavy duty steel brackets. At 13.8′ x 16.5′ (width x length) and 10.5′ of height, it’s pretty big and tall making quite an impression. It’s still fairly easy to fit in a regular sized backyard and it’s guaranteed to make kids smile. The assembly is straightforward and easy to follow, taking around 8 hours to complete. This unit also comes with 1 year of warranty for general defects and with a 5 year warranty on the wood. It is, in my opinion, one of the best cheap playsets you can buy in terms of sheer value, offering a quality experience and wooden structure at what is, in my view, a very attractive price.
As you can see, it’s possible to get a quality unit at a low price. Whether you’re looking for an affordable classic unit or the more advanced ones, these models – which I consider to be excellent cheap playground sets – will positively surprise you, and your kids, with just how much bang for the buck they offer.
To get the best prices on swing sets, make sure to keep an eye out for the delivery fees as some brands offer it for free, further cutting down the costs. Due to this, the best place to buy outdoor playsets is Amazon, in my opinion.
